The Red Fox -Family Canidae, Vulpes vulpes is a small dog like mammal, agile, intelligent, and boasts a lustrous fur coat. They are shy, secretive and have a somewhat nervous disposition. Their eyesight and hearing is acute which aids them while hunting for food. They seek out rodents, young rabbits, eggs, squirrels , berries, insects and some plant food.
Predators include wolves, coyotes,dogs,bobcat, lynx, likely cougars , bears and eagles can but seldom bother them.
Red foxes are one of Canada’s most widespread mammals found in all provinces and territories.
