This is the largest butterfly in Canada with a wingspan of 83- 113 cm. They range from Central America to southwestern Canada and are considered sporadic and rare accept in southwestern Canada . In areas such as Point Pelee that have the foodplants – hop tree and Northern Prickly-ash they are common. It is such a large butterfly that it continually vibrates it’s wings while feeding at flowers so it does not tilt the blossom.
This is one of my 1st images taken with the D300
