The Egret is a beautiful large wader and the Symbol for the Audubon Society established to prevent the decimation of birds for their feathers. Not all of the young survive the nesting period as there is aggression and it is common for the large chicks to kill the smaller siblings. The longest recorded age on record is 23 years
They nest in colonies with other species in shrubs, trees over water or on islands. They feed on fish, invertebrates, amphibions , reptiles, birds and small mammals in various wetland habitats.
